Urban Retreat:
A Calming Bedroom in San Francisco

This project was brought to life with our Virtual Design Package :

From Screen to Dream

🗝 San Francisco, California

In the heart of San Francisco's vibrant Sunset neighborhood, a young professional couple sought to transform their one-bedroom apartment into a haven that balanced work and relaxation. Embarking on their first home together, they desired a space that reflected their individual styles while accommodating their demanding tech careers. Our mission was to create a serene retreat that seamlessly blended functionality and style, with dedicated work areas.

    • Harmonize two distinct design preferences into a cohesive aesthetic.

    • Elevate the space from mismatched college furniture to a mature and sophisticated haven.

    • Design a multifunctional bedroom that accommodates both rest and remote work.

    • Infuse personality and character into the design, reflecting the couple's unique tastes.

    • Blending two contrasting design styles.

    • Optimizing a limited space for both work and relaxation.

    • Creating a sense of calm and retreat in a bustling urban environment.

    • Collaborative Design:

We collaborated closely with the couple to understand their individual preferences and find common ground, resulting in a design that resonated with both.

    • Multifunctional Solutions:

We maximized the limited space with clever storage and a dedicated workspace within a closet, ensuring both functionality and serenity.

Design Insights: Key Elements of This Transformation

Discover the thoughtful details that make this space truly unique.

  • We selected a calming color palette, natural materials, and soft textures to promote relaxation and well-being.

  • We incorporated artwork, décor, and personal mementos that reflected the couple's unique personalities and interests.

  • To maintain a renter-friendly approach, we opted for a DIY solution that involved minimal changes to the existing space. Using stencil painting, we created a visually interesting workspace within an unused closet, seamlessly blending it with the rest of the bedroom.

“It was an amazing experience working with Alice. We moved into a new apartment and wanted to decorate the bedroom to be calm and comfortable. From a few inspiration pictures on Pinterest and a consult, Alice nailed the style we were going for. Circling back with a presentation outlining 3D rendering, ideas, color palettes, options and even a shopping list of the furniture/decor items for the space. The room is so cozy, love it!”
